My Savior, You Have Offered Rest My Savior, You have offered rest, Oh! give it, then, to me; The rest of ceasing from myself, To find my all in Thee. This cruel self, oh! how it strives And works within my breast, To come between You and my soul, And keep me back from rest. How many subtle forms it takes Of seeming verity, As if it were not safe to rest And venture all on Thee. And yet it was no little price That bought this rest for me; T'was purchased at the mighty cost Of Jesus' agony. I only enter on the rest, Obtained by labors done; I only claim the victory By Him so dearly won. And, Lord, I seek a holy rest, A victory over sin; I seek that You alone should reign Over all, without, within. In quietness, then, and confidence, Savior-- my strength shall be; And, "Take me, for I cannot come," Is still my cry to Thee. In Your strong hand I lay me down, So shall the work be done; For who can work so wondrously As an Almighty One? Work on then, Lord, until on my soul Eternal light shall break; And in Your likeness perfected, I, "satisfied," shall wake. ~By Evan Hopkins ~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A Little Note from Cobblestone Road Ministries: As Believers, our victory, our blessings, our hope and our rest are in Christ Jesus alone. He paid the highest price for our eternal redemption upon that cruel cross. His glorious resurrection proclaims we have a Living Savior in Heaven-- One who is truly able to save our souls and then help us live in this sinful world-- rising above adversity. We look to Christ for help, as did all believers who went before us. We want our Savior to reign over all-- our hearts, our homes, our families, our finances, our churches and ultimately, upon His return...this world. His strength is sufficient and so we must leave things that so stress us out at His feet. Take our burdens to Him and petition Him for all of our needs. God loves the humble heart, who prays in sincerity, and who trusts Him with their troubles. Christ is the Captain of our souls and will lead us onward. Nothing is impossible with God-- what an awesome thought! May we rest in all that the Lord Jesus is today! Hebrews 12:1-2 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
